Reflexology

I have always been interested in reflexology and how we are made, especially when it comes to the nerve endings of our feet and hands. To be able to massage your hands and feet and feel a difference elsewhere on the body.

The best part of this is you can find the place that your body is affected and start your healing process.

We get blockages all around our bodies and knowing where and how we can unblock them is very important to do. Stimulating the area with just your finger and thumb helps unblock the area which is in need of healing.

If you have problems with the right side of your body then you message the right foot and if you have problems on the left side then you message your left foot.

With energy pathways and body zones, the overall goal is to balance the body’s vital energies promoting overall health.

Reflexology is used to relieve a large variety of ailments, headaches, constipation, insomnia, sinus problems, even improve blood supply, or normalizes overactive or underactive glands, and relieves stress.

You could make an appointment to see a Certified Reflexologist, or just do it yourself at home by buying a book and studying the reflex technics.

The technique starts from the head and goes all the way down to the soles of the feet.

The body is divided into ten longitudinal zones. By working a zone on your feet you are stimulating the organ within that zone. Depending on the zone you are working on like the upper part of the foot you could be relieving the eyes or liver or kidneys.

Did you know that reflexology recognizes thirty areas of the sole of the foot? Each area can be massaged by yourself or a partner. There are two kinds of methods

1. Thumb Method

You go along the side of the foot as if you are pinching, but you do it slowly because you are trying to feel the knots on your foot like small hard balls. Those are the blocks that need to be massaged out and they can be painful, but what a relief once they are gone and you do feel better.

2. Finger Method

It is like the thumb, except you are using your index finger instead of the thumb. I guess, it depends which you prefer and is more comfortable for you, because you have to hold the foot with your other hand while you are doing this. You need to make the person as comfortable as possible.

With hand reflexology, they teach referral areas. For example, the elbow for the knee would be the referral area and the wrist for the ankle would be the referral area, so you may work one or both.

They say if you make this a daily practice that the body will keep itself in balance, and in turn, you will keep healthy and rarely get sick because your body is pursuing wellness.

Make time to put your body in balance. Keep your body fit and stay healthy.

Remember, it all starts with just one touch in all the right places!
