Perfume Smells and PH Balance

Have you ever stood by someone and they smelled so good you just wanted to follow them around? Or ask what kind of perfume or cologne they are wearing and where you can buy it?

Then there is the person who puts on perfume or cologne and you can’t get away fast enough, the smell gets there before they do.

My question is why do some perfumes or colognes smell better on some people than others?

It has to do with the PH Balance which has to do with the acids and bases in your blood at which your body functions best.

Did you know that the lungs and kidneys have a major part in keeping your acidity and alkalinity balance? So, they are a part of what makes the PH maintain a healthy balance.

A normal PH balance should be at a balance of 7.40 on a scale of 0-14, where 0 is more acidic and 14 is the most basic. If your lungs and kidneys are healthy your PH balance should be good.

Did you know that having oily skin makes your cologne or perfume last longer than dry skin?

What is sad is that the perfume or cologne smells so good on someone else may not have the same good smell for you. Everyone’s PH balance chemistry is different, like our fingerprints, which are not the same. So it is with the PH balance that makes each of us different and unique.

What smells good to some may smell awful to others that try the same perfume or cologne. So, if you like the smell of a cologne or perfume don’t run off and buy it without trying it on yourself first. It may not be what you were expecting it to smell like, remembering we are all unique and different in our PH balance.

Did you know that what we eat also affects the smell of perfume or cologne we spray on ourselves?

Like garlic, fish, onions, everyone’s body creates its odor. Depending on what you eat, the body reacts strongly to that, and adding it all together on the skin with cologne or perfume can make you smell great or make you stand alone. But once you spray it on and your skin absorbs it you will know instantly if it is right for you or not.

Did you also know that if you spray on your cologne or perfume and you can’t smell it on you, it says something is not right with your PH balance?

Also if you are getting over a hangover can affect the fragrance you just spayed on also because your body is trying to get rid of the sugars and pushes them out through the pores.

What is recommended to do when looking to buy perfume or cologne is to try it out in the store wait about 20 minutes and if it still smells fabulous then you should buy it.

Always take your time to buy your fragrance, never be in a hurry, and

the long run, you will come out smelling like roses, you get my drift right.

Constipation Not Going When You Need to Go

Have you ever woken up, your body feels really sluggish, and you are not sure what is going on with you? It may sound silly to you but if you have not been having regular bowel movements and been having trouble going, that could be your problem.

As time goes by, and we stop having regular bowel movements, everything we eat gets stuck, or I should say compacted, like a cardboard machine that compresses cardboard into small bundles.

That is what happens when we don’t listen to the signals our body gives when it tells us to go. Once that happens you get the pressure of having to go and nothing is volunteering to come out.

For some people, it is easy to correct this situation by drinking more water and eating something fibrous. But for others, it is more serious and leads to much bigger problems.

Some people don’t have any bowel movements for days or even weeks, while others feel blocked, not being able to pass any stool.

Constipation has many causes from medication to dehydration, even poor diets can cause problems. There many reasons we suffer when it comes to our bowels.

My question is this:

What can we do to prevent constipation?

Well, the first thing we need to know is how we get it in the first place.

Our body takes out the liquid from the food we eat. Once that is done, it discards it. Sends it down the colon to the rectum, where it passes it.

But when this system slows down, and that would be when the body takes out too much of the liquid and the stool starts to get hard and dry, that is when you get constipation.

There are many things that we take that cause this and that includes medication, lack of fluids, feeling the urge and not going, lack of exercise, not enough fiber, even pregnancy can cause constipation.

Now that we know some of the causes, let’s see what helps to prevent it.

All plants and fruits have fiber. How much should you eat per day? For men, it’s thirty-eight grams and for women, it’s twenty-five grams. But as we get older we need less, twenty-one for women, and thirty for men. But we don’t even eat half of the recommended grams.

Simple changes can help improve and relieve constipation.

For example, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, instead of reaching for the chips or cookies. Make a salad, cut up some apples, carrots, and celery, and start eating them as healthy snacks.

For meals, use fewer meats and more vegetables in stews, or stir-fried foods. Make sure you drink plenty of liquids. Cut down on sugary drinks like sodas and sweet juice, natural fruits smoothies, or juices would be great.

Let us not forget to exercise. At least thirty minutes a day will help keep the constipation away. So, keep active and moving and everything should stay on track.

Ayurvedic Medicine

Ayurvedic medicine is a system of diagnosis and treatment, representing longevity and knowledge. In India, they have believed for 2,500 years that the human body represents the entire universe in microcosmic form. We function as organisms by understanding and observing the world around us.

Maintaining a balance of microcosmic body and world.

A relational concept of three principles called doshas, to restore and maintain balance.

Therapies, lifestyles, and natural medicines appropriate for each individual.

There are five elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Wind (space).

We all have these combinations of the elements in each of us, some have more of one than others.

There are three main types of doshas that make up each unique individual.

Practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine know the three main types of dosha. Vata, pitta, and Kapha, together are called tridosha.

1. Vita

Wind (space) and Air combination associated with lightness and dispersion, encompasses the movement of fluid and cells that go thru the body and helps them go to the brain.

People who are influenced by vita are very creative in the arts and can see the beauty of the art right away. They enjoy being busy and get restless right away if they can’t be doing something creative.

2. Pitta “bile”

Fire and Water. The transformation, processing the digestion of food into energy. Pitta is the controlling force of metabolic activities.

These people are doers and if something needs to be done right away consider it done. They don’t stand around waiting but are constantly busy changing something that needs to be done. They are very aggressive and love to be extremely competitive.

3. Kapha (phlegm)

Earth and Water. The body has physical strength, stability, wound healing abilities.

You would describe this person as being stable, with a tranquil personality, but with a body of a rock, heavy and muscular, strong as a bear.

They say the day you are born is the day you get your Parkiti which means you get your doshas. At that time you may receive more of one dosha than another.

At this time you are in balance, meaning all is well when you are born but as time goes by and you get stressed-out with life in general, then you start to get sick because you become unbalanced.

Practitioners say you should not overeat, get plenty of rest, and try not to get over-stressed.

Meditation is highly recommended, to fix the unbalanced condition right away.

The primary focus is to help you stay healthy and prevent your body from falling into unhealthy practices that then make you ill.

They use many remedies to heal the body. They use sound, spices, minerals, gems, colors, and much more to heal the body.

Ayurvedic medicine is to help you stay healthy or to help you heal, and make the necessary changes you need.

The practitioner is there for you and takes your health seriously and if you are not going to take care of your self who else will?

Your ayurvedic practitioner can only do what he/she can to help you, the rest is up to you.

Sound Therapy and Listening to Your Favorite Music

Karaoke is a sound of music that sometimes soothes the soul depending on who is singing. I didn’t realize it until I started singing in the privacy of my brother’s house, how soothing it was until my brother said to try it.

At first, I would say “no,” but then another time he asked me again, so I did. And now, I don’t care who is listing or how bad I sound ( but I only sing with the family not in public). I sing to my granddaughter and she just smiles. Poor baby, she can’t crawl yet so she has no choice but to listen.

Singing does a body good.

There are many different sounds in music that can sound so beautiful depending on who is listening and what they like to hear. There are all kinds of musical sounds from country music, rap, classical, Mozart, rhythmical drums, and I’m sure there are more different kinds I didn’t mention because I may not of heard of them, yet.

Regardless, we all have that one song that makes you go back in time as soon as you hear it. It may be a special dance, first kiss, or just a favorite hangout where you first heard the song you liked.

Did you know that our body has its own system of vibrations that can bring us into balance by sound waves?

Have you ever heard of singing bowls? Some are made of glass and others are made of metal. When made to sing it makes a calming sound, and if put on your body and made to sing, you can feel it vibrate all over your whole body.

Sound therapy does help reduce stress and improve health. It can help us emotionally, enhance our creativity, help our energy and brain functions. Sound thereapy helps young children with autism, or learning disabilities, and the elderly who suffer with Alzheimer’s.

It all depends on your mood, really. For example, if you are feeling depressed you would listen to music with upbeat tunes that make your feet go footloose and fancy-free. Music that makes you want to dance, or something that relaxes you, so it might be something soft and slow. Even natural nature sounds like birds singing or a quiet creek sound.

The sound of the ocean is one of my favorite sounds, especially if I’m there at the beach in person.

Sound Therapy is the way to go.

To help you heal and get you out of your depression or just to go into yourself and remember happier times. The rhythms of the music are there to make you feel the vibrations.

The vibrations you feel from the music are a part of the healing process that your body needs to heal itself and get into its balance.

It helps the body relax and become stress-free, empowering the body’s health mechanisms, and makes it self-healing.

So do some sound therapy, let the music soothe your soul, and be happy. Don’t worry, and be stress-free.

Reflexology

I have always been interested in reflexology and how we are made, especially when it comes to the nerve endings of our feet and hands. To be able to massage your hands and feet and feel a difference elsewhere on the body.

The best part of this is you can find the place that your body is affected and start your healing process.

We get blockages all around our bodies and knowing where and how we can unblock them is very important to do. Stimulating the area with just your finger and thumb helps unblock the area which is in need of healing.

If you have problems with the right side of your body then you message the right foot and if you have problems on the left side then you message your left foot.

With energy pathways and body zones, the overall goal is to balance the body’s vital energies promoting overall health.

Reflexology is used to relieve a large variety of ailments, headaches, constipation, insomnia, sinus problems, even improve blood supply, or normalizes overactive or underactive glands, and relieves stress.

You could make an appointment to see a Certified Reflexologist, or just do it yourself at home by buying a book and studying the reflex technics.

The technique starts from the head and goes all the way down to the soles of the feet.

The body is divided into ten longitudinal zones. By working a zone on your feet you are stimulating the organ within that zone. Depending on the zone you are working on like the upper part of the foot you could be relieving the eyes or liver or kidneys.

Did you know that reflexology recognizes thirty areas of the sole of the foot? Each area can be massaged by yourself or a partner. There are two kinds of methods

1. Thumb Method

You go along the side of the foot as if you are pinching, but you do it slowly because you are trying to feel the knots on your foot like small hard balls. Those are the blocks that need to be massaged out and they can be painful, but what a relief once they are gone and you do feel better.

2. Finger Method

It is like the thumb, except you are using your index finger instead of the thumb. I guess, it depends which you prefer and is more comfortable for you, because you have to hold the foot with your other hand while you are doing this. You need to make the person as comfortable as possible.

With hand reflexology, they teach referral areas. For example, the elbow for the knee would be the referral area and the wrist for the ankle would be the referral area, so you may work one or both.

They say if you make this a daily practice that the body will keep itself in balance, and in turn, you will keep healthy and rarely get sick because your body is pursuing wellness.

Make time to put your body in balance. Keep your body fit and stay healthy.

Remember, it all starts with just one touch in all the right places!

What You Can Do About Brain Fog

Have you ever walked into a room and then looked around and walked out again, thinking what did I come in here for? Then go back to the living room or kitchen and remembered I went in to get my glasses? Then turn around and go back, just to turn around and do it again?

Many people think it is a sign of getting old. But the reality is that it could be something as simple as medication, if you have not been sleeping well, if you have been fatigued, even a change in body chemistry can cause brain fog.

What are some of the signs of brain fog?

Signs of Brain Fog

Low energy
Tired
Frustrated
Lack of mental clarity
Slow understanding (when it comes to learning)
Having troubles making decisions
Forgetting what you talk about while having a conversation
Forget where you are going when driving.

What can you do to improve your thinking?

We need to find out what might be causing the brain fog to begin with.

Inflammation conditions that can cause brain fog are lupus, allergy’s to food, arthritis, diabetes, changes in glucose in the blood, chronic fatigue, when the body is so tired it can’t function anymore. Being dehydrated causes brain fog and also getting migraines. Sometimes when you are pregnant you can get brain fog or if you get chemotherapy.

To get rid of the brain fog, check with your doctor to make sure it is not something that needs to be observed by him or her first.

Make sure you get plenty of sleep, at least eight hours.

Meditation is also a way of relaxing and calming you down for the night. Listening to soft music help ease one to sleep, taking a nice hot shower or relax in a tub can help to relieve yourself of the stress of the day.

Eating healthy meals everyday help also when it comes to clearing your mind. Eating food rich with all the nutrition your mind needs to stop getting brain fog, like fatty acids. Fish has the omega 3s that our brain needs to function, avocados, walnuts, also eat vegetables and fruits that contain free radicals,

and eat leafy veggies and spices to help keep the inflammation away.

Another cause may be a lack of vitamins like B-12s. It could also be due to a lack of magnesium, the deficiency causes brain fog because the body needs magnesium so the neuron cells transmit proper messages to the body.

But the best thing you can do for your body is exercise. Keep moving, especially if you have been sitting all day get up and shake that booty. Run around the house, chase the dog, or chase your wife, have some fun, or just turn on some of your favorite music and dance like no one is watching. And if they are, they just might get up and dance with you because you make it look like fun.

So, don’t just be watching TV, or be on your phone, or your laptop, or whatever you may be on. Take a break, give a shoutout to the family that in ten minutes the Internet is going to be turned off for thirty minutes so that the family can do some kind of exercise together.

Imagine Yourself Thin

How many of us can picture a skinnier person when we look in the mirror? Or save a beautiful blouse or pants in the hope that one day you reach your goal and be able to wear them again. I used to be that person. But as time went by, I realized that was not going to happen.

I was the person that was always overweight as I grew older. But as time went by, I have found that you need to change your way of thinking about yourself. I found that works miracles.

I also find that when you see food differently, for example, you go to a restaurant, then pick something that you would like to eat, you are excited about tasting the desert you have chosen. You have been anticipating the creamy taste of chocolate, whip cream pie, and as you have it right in front of you, what are your thoughts as you are ready to taste this pie that you have been waiting for, desiring, drooling over?

“Ohhh my god it tastes like heaven.” Or  “thru my lips forever on my hips.”

If you picked the first answer you are heading in the right direction but if you picked the second then that is what will happen. It all depends on your attitude toward food, not only on food but on life itself.

I would also tell myself  “I can eat anything and everything and still weigh 155.”

What about comments like “this is going to make me fat” or “that has a lot of calories”?

I kept these negative words out of my thoughts, and I did lose the weight. You will be surprised how strong our minds and will are. Be positive and look into your future. See yourself how you want to look and it will come to be.

I’m not saying you have to stop eating your favorite foods, you can eat it all in moderation.

One important thing to always remember is this. “Never tell yourself you are on a diet.” Because then your body will overreact and you start craving things you didn’t even think about eating until you said that ugly word “Diet.”

Plus, being positive and knowing the weight you want, will come to be, because you are not worried about what you are eating.

You also tell your body to, “take the nutrients it needs from the food you are eating and get rid of the rest.”

Once you are full, stop eating.

I remember mom would say, “eat all your food on your plate there are starving children that don’t have any”.

Don’t feel guilty if you leave your food on your plate, it is out of your control, there is nothing you can do about it.

I was 360 pounds and I used this method to lose weight and have kept my weight down. My family has always seen me fat, but when one of my uncles saw me skinny he asked my sister if I was dying because he had never seen me that thin before.

The Pandemic Outbreak

I have read about, or heard from people. who have had the COVID-19 virus, and some have been scared that they would not make it. It comes suddenly, and not knowing the symptoms, some say, it could be life or death.

The more people that survive this virus, the more we know how to help others cope and know what to do.

A mild case of COVID may start out that way, but after three or four days, may get worse instead of better.

If you have chest pains that are consistent, don’t let up, and keep getting worse instead of better, you need to go to the emergency right away. This could cause light-headedness and confusion.

Also, if your lips start to turn blue, time to go to the hospital.

To ease your breathing, use a humidifier. It eases the tightness of the chest and helps with coughing.

Several people said they felt better when they slept on their stomachs. It seemed to ease the symptoms.

Mental health is very important

Being stressed because you are sick is not good, also being depressed is not going to help either.

You need to talk with your doctor and if not the doctor, let your friends know you are depressed and they can talk to you on the phone or Zoom chat.

Another way is to think of a happy memory and just go back to that day. Make it a positive experience.

I know being sick, you don’t want to get out of bed. You don’t even want to move, but moving is very important to keep the lungs clear.

Open a window and get some fresh air in the room.

Turn the radio on and dance like no one is watching (don’t overdo it).

You may ask,

How long am I going to feel like crap?

Well, some people feel sick for a while and then they start to feel good a few days, and then POW! It knocks you for a loop and you start all over.

Others have systems for months.

Eventually, you start to feel good. Only time will tell.

Listen up, people. It is possible to get the COVID-19 virus again, and for some odd reason, you get sicker than you did the first time!

There have been several people who have been infected and are baffled as to why? The body should have been immune.

Is that why they are saying that the coronavirus now has different strains? And if it is, will the vaccine be able to protect everyone from the virus? Or will it become like the flu shot?

There are so many questions and still not enough answers to so many questions.

Hopefully, our bodies will start making anti-bodies to be able to protect us from the virus as we go about our everyday life.

Do not be discouraged by all that is happening. We have been through many hard times as a nation and this to shall pass, as long as we cooperate and respect each other by wearing your mask, keeping 6 feet apart, and washing your hands.

This is not a sign of weakness, as some may think, it is being respectful to your fellow man. And if someone takes it as a sign of weakness, then he is the weakest link in our society.

Are You Recovering from COVID-19?

In this day and age in which we live today, life as we know it has changed drastically. The days of being able to socialize with friends and family have passed. If we decide to go and see our loved ones, it is almost like playing the game Russian roulette.

For many, they have to work to pay bills and continue going to work.

Everyone talks about getting the virus, but no one talks about recovery, and what needs to be done to help you recover faster.

How to Better Recover from COVID-19

1 – Keep Walking

Keep walking, but don’t overexert yourself.

2 – Take it Easy

Take it easy. If watching television, get up during commercials, do some foot stretches.

3 – Keep Moving

Just keep moving. If you can keep your body going, this will help you to clear the lungs.

4 – Lay Right

They say laying on your stomach when you sleep is better than lying on your back, and if you cannot lay on your back, then lay on your side.

Herbs are not recommended?

The doctors push for pharmacological medications and say that using herbs is not recommended.

It is hard for me to understand this statement because the COVID-19 vaccine is recommended, and they know dam well its taking chances with everyone’s life because they don’t even know the dam reaction it well have on the people who take it in the beginning, yet herbal use is not recommended?

I would rather take my chances on all-natural herbs because the body responds better to them.

As far as pharmacological drugs go, the side effects alone can kill you.

If you are going to die with COVID-19, then, like I said, the chances for recovery really depend on how strong your immune system is and how well you are taking care of yourself to prevent yourself from getting sick.

I also believe that if you are positive of mind you will be fine.

You still need to take precautions, wear your mask, watch your hands, and keep your distance of 6 feet. But knowing you are safe, putting it out there with the universe.

I also believe that when it is your time to see the light at the end of the tunnel, nothing you do will stop you from dying no matter what.

Taking the right dose of pharmacological pills or herbs.

I wish I had the right cure that was all-natural to heal the world. But I don’t.

I do know that God has given us all-natural plants for healing and He also gave us the doctors to help us when the herbs don’t help, like setting a bone or surgeries for the body that it needs to heal.

I have noticed that many people are coming back to natural herbs. I have talked to family members, I didn’t even know they were looking into remedies for hair, natural pain controllers, and more.

If you do try the herbs and start to feel better, that is great!

Then keep doing what you are doing. Remember, just because it is working doesn’t mean you triple the dose. As if, “Wow! A little bit worked, if I triple it, I will get better a lot faster!” And the answer, my friend, is “No.” We do not want you to get a cytokine storm caused by a hyperactive immune response.

Osteoporosis Stop Eating Foods that Dissolve Bones

We all enjoy our food, when made with all the right spices it seems to bring out the right flavor to everything you cook. But did you know there are five things we use every day of our lives and they make your day go better, taste better? But even with moderation, they do your body wrong.

As you continue to use these five foods, you may not realize that they are affecting your bone density. If you have osteoporosis, stop eating foods that dissolve bones.

7 Foods That Dissolve Bones

1.) Soda

Many people drink this beverage every day, not realizing the damage it is doing to your bones. Every time you drink soda the Phosphorous found in sodas contribute to bone loss. Here is where moderation comes in, try to get more dairy in, it makes a big difference.

2.) Salt

Cutting back on salt is hard to do. I know, because all the foods we love to eat have salt added to them, some more them others. Our body loses calcium with salt, which leads to bone loss. So, it is important to read the nutrition facts on the labels. If it says 20%, that is too high. Many processed foods do have a lot of salt.

3.) Beans

Who could believe that beans absorb calcium? But, they do. Beans have a substance called phytates which interferes and absorbs calcium. But if you soak them before cooking, you are good to go.

4.) Alcohol

Drinking 2 to 3 drinks and no more is a good limit per day. More than that? Drinking more than your daily allotment (2 to 3) will cost you in additional bone loss.

5.) Caffeine

Caffeine is a hard one because many of us start our day with a nice cup of coffee to wake us up for the day. The caffeine decreases calcium absorption. But if drinking a cup of coffee in moderation, then you should be fine.

6.) Meats

We all eat meats and many enjoy a good steak. But I am talking more about processed meats, like sandwich meats, hotdogs, jerkies, and so many more. All these have proteins, but also are full of salts that interfere with the absorption of calcium in the bones of the body.

7.) Vegetables

Who would have thought that veggies would be unhealthy and would have to be eaten in moderation? Well, some, not all, need to be cut back on, like mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes.

Even though these veggies can cause us inflammation, which in turn will affect the bones, they still have other vitamins and minerals our body needs.

So, we again need to use these vegetables in moderation.

We need to check even our leafy greens like raw spinach and swiss chard, they both contain bone-healthy calcium but at the same time have oxalates which bind the calcium and make it unavailable to the body.

I have always enjoyed my vegetables and preferred to eat them instead of red meat. It is still a better choice for me. But all this is a game-changer when it comes to eating veggies.

It is bad enough trying to get your children to eat their vegetables and them refusing, but if they find out that eating your veggies is a farce, we are in trouble.

But the saying, “what they don’t know won’t hurt them,” that has changed. And as parents, we have to be a good example to our children.

So keep giving them their vegetables in moderation.

Sorry kiddos, you still have to eat your veggies.
